Vacuuming the transformer using a Transformer Vacuum Plant
Definition
Before oil filling is started, a final check is made for the tightness of the transformer tank by applying vacuum. When vacuum is applied to a transformer without oil, a leakage test must be carried out to ensure that there are no leaks in the tank which would result in wet air being drawn into the transformer.
Benefit
Using a vacuum in this process eliminate moisture and provides deeper penetration of insulation into transformer cavities.
